This is a METZ 32 MZ-3 Mecablitz Hot Shoe Mount Dedicated Flash with a METZ SCA 3101 M3 (adapter for Canon EOS). This is a high quality camera flash set up with a lot of features including bounce and swivel head, auto mode, winder mode, manual mode, and TTL mode plus the extra features of the SCA adapter. I have put in new batteries and tested it on my Panasonic G5 mirrorless camera. It flashes when the shutter is pressed and also flashes when the test button on the unit is pressed. All the lights on the unit work fine. This flash unit was released in the late 1990s.
There are a multitude of options for you to use and experiment with but I'll be honest, I don't know much about camera flashes. From reading all the information online this is a high end flash unit and if you know what you're doing you could use this flash on modern cameras with no problem.
The SCA 3101 M3 adapter is for Canon EOS cameras, but it can be removed for use with all cameras with hot shoe connection or replaced with a different Metz adapter. This flash unit is in excellent condition. It shows little usage wear and has no damage at all.
